Working with a Designer

You can work with an Interior Designer in a range of different ways tailored to your needs, the following gives you an idea of the different stages that might be involved in a project.

Consultation

An initial one hour consultation is an opportunity to talk about your home, what you would like to achieve and get an idea of cost. The initial consultation is free of charge with no obligation.

Brief

Following the meeting, if you wish to proceed, a design brief will summarise what was discussed taking into account your likes, dislikes and expectations.

Mood Board

The first stage of the design process is a mood board. This board gives the overall look and feel of individual rooms or a property and is used as a visual reference for choosing furniture, fabrics and other samples.

The mood board is also useful if you and your partner have conflicting opinions on what look you should go for, as it focusses on key elements such as colour and style prior to sourcing samples.

Floor Plans

If needed we can look at the layout of a particular room or property as a whole and produce scale floor plans with suggested changes to make the space work in the best way for your needs. This can include electrical/lighting plans and furniture layout.

Sample Board

Following agreement on the mood board the sample boards cover all elements such as lighting, fabric, flooring, wallpaper and furniture suggestions. It shows how they will work together to create a look that works both from both a visual and practical perspective.

Implementation

The final stage is the implementation. You can either choose to complete the project yourself or work with your designer who can utilise the benefit of their trade discount, which often offsets any design fee (depending on the overall spend).

The way you work with your designer can be completely tailored around your needs but the following examples show how you might like to work together.
